Trujillo acquires soft tissue laser

Dr. David Trujillo, La Junta dentist, has acquired a state-of-the-art soft tissue laser. It is a very small machine, but it produces a large number of almost pain-free dental procedures. It may be used in gingevectomy (gum surgery), swollen tissue reduction, cauterization, biopsies and to excise or incise gums or other tissue. The laser replaces the electro-surgical machine. It makes no whining sounds or other annoying noises. The only sound may be a rush of air, since air suction is used to keep the area cool and cleaner. Many patients require no anesthetizing procedures.
The laser is much kinder to patients, Dr. Trujillo said.

"There's less post-operative pain and less time in the chair. It is also more accurate, allows more finesse, and heals better than scalpel wounds." Also, electro-surgical procedures could not be done around metal, and lasers do not react with metal.

The laser in Dr. Trujillo's office is a diode laser. The diode laser is used on soft tissue only. Lasers are monochromatic on a certain wavelength.

They concentrate light to be used for surgical purposes and can also be used as super-pointers. Protective goggles must be worn during laser surgery, and may also be required for onlookers to laser surgery.

Dr. Trujillo looks forward to using the laser in many procedures in which it will enable him to do less painful surgery with a much quicker recovery time.

Welcomes

Dr.GaryBlumenscheim DDS to Staff!

Dr. Trujillo and I met at a series of continuing education courses in Denver. He knew from our conversations that I had sold my dental practice in 2007 and had been "Filling In for Dentists" since then.  In June, 2010, Dr. Trujillo asked me to assist him in his dental office.  It quickly became obvious why he attracts so many fine patients.  He stays current with new advances and products in dentistry and treats his patients and staff with a beauty of character that translates into a caring and gentle approach.

Dentistry is a great love in my life.  It continues to thrill me when patients leave after an appointment with a feeling of appreciation for quality and careful treatment that is practically always pain free.  It is possible to deliver that kind of gentle dentistry when the office cares enough to take the time to do so.

I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, attended Iowa State University with the help of a baseball scholarship and graduated from dental school at Creighton University.  Until starting my "career enhancement" phase, I practiced dentistry at my own office in Lakewood, Colorado.

Other interests outside of dentistry include playing piano, singing and ringing handbells in church choirs, gardening, cooking, traveling, golf, horseshoes, tennis and just about any sport that allows me to chase a ball.  My wife and I live in Lakewood, Colorado with our dog, Louis XIV.
