Sedation:

Your child has had oral sedation and will be sleepy, tired, or restless for several hours. Closely supervise your child and limit their activity until you are confident the effects of the sedative are completely gone.

Anesthetic:

(Numbness) . No food or drink should be given for one or two hours. A cotton roll may be placed in the child's mouth to prevent biting of the cheek or tongue until the numbness wears off. Also prevent the child from rubbing, pinching, or sucking of the lip or cheek, which could cause injuries that will be sore later.
Fillings and/or Stainless Steel Crowns: Only soft foods should be given for one day following dental treatment. Tylenol or other children's medication* can be given for discomfort and sensitivity.

Extraction:

Maintain pressure with gauze for one hour or more to help stop bleeding. Tylenol or other children's medication* can be given for discomfort. A soft diet for one three days may be helpful.

Space Maintainer:

Avoid chewing hard or sticky foods after placement of a space maintainer. The life span of the space Maintainer is directly related to the diligence in avoiding hard foods. If it loosens prematurely, it must be recemented as soon as possible.

Life Span:

The effective life of the space-maintainer will depend on the eruption of the permanent tooth underneath the space-maintainer or the adjacent tooth. Ideally it will fall out as the erupting tooth appears. On occasion it has to be removed to allow proper eruption of the permanent teeth.

*Follow medication directions for use
